When you come and visit The Hide, not only do we promise you incredible wildlife, beautiful accommodation and world-class activities…we also guarantee you a real food safari!
The Dining Experience
Guests have several different dining options at The Hide. The first is our “big table” in the main A-Frame – a beautiful teak communal table seating 22 people, where guests and guides share a meal together at the same table – a “waterhole” concept for dining if you will! For most guests, our big table is one of the highlights of their stay as it allows you to meet many interesting people from around the world, and share the wildlife stories of the day. Guests have described it as feeling like “one big family enjoying a meal” or “ guests in a friend’s home.”
Private dining is offered for every meal, and please do let us know if you are celebrating a special occasion as we like to make sure that these are celebrated in style. Depending on your activity, you can also enjoy a lunch out in the bush, sundowners at a picture-perfect spot or a spot of cake in the upstairs lounge of our A-frame.
Gourmet Cuisine
Hwange National Park will WOW you and so will our chefs! We are delighted to have been recognised by the #SafariAwards2019 for Zimbabwe’s best safari cuisine – every meal served is a small adventure on a plate! Connoisseurs will be delighted to discover that we have a real wine cellar at The Hide too. Tucked away in the walkway to the Hide is our cooled well-stocked wine cellar where you can choose the wine you would like for dinner.
Our famous homemade hot chilli sauce

Don’t take just our word for it – here are some lovely guest reviews of our food safari…
“Meals were taken at a large communal table (the option to have private dining was offered upon arrival), whereby guests could converse and share their days activities/experiences, and all meals offered were of a high culinary standard considering the camp was literally in the middle of the African bush. All food preferences and dietary requirements were ascertained upon arrival for example any potential food allergies/intolerance’s”. – Hayley
“The staff was AMAZING. They had communal meals (you can choose private if you want) that gave you time to get to know the other guests and the staff, which was really nice”. – Carly
“Wonderful fires were going in the morning and evening and great food was served at a communal meal with interesting people from all over the world.” – Robert
